A welcome win for Leeds United

Leeds United got back to winning ways with an important win today against Colchester at Elland Road. Two goals from Jermaine Beckford were enough to secure 3 points against an inform Colchester team.

With Charlton and Swindon dropping points Leeds have opened up a 5 point gap with Charlton and with a game in hand.

Today's game was a welcone victory for Leeds as their league form has suffered in the last few weeks, probably due to a great run in the FA Cup. Leeds play Tottenham on Wednesday night in the FA Cup replay and again it is live on ITV. Some of the Leeds' players have probably got carried away with all the publicity of the FA Cup and Leeds boss Simon Grayson appears to have given the players a kick up the backside to get them motivated in the league again.

The next few games are crucial for Leeds and they have to show that they can sustain their league form as promotion is more important than the FA Cup.

Leeds United win over new fans

The FA Cup fourth round tie last Saturday between Leeds United and Spurs was again shown live on ITV which guaranteed a huge worldwide television audience. And, just like the Manchester United match in the 3rd round Leeds did themselves proud by playing excellent football and doing their bit in ensuring that the game was very entertaining.

In the first 20 minutes of the game it looked like Leeds would be overwhelmed by a rampant Spurs side. Spurs even missed a penalty and could have scored 2 or 3 times. Spurs did eventually score just before half time but deep into stoppage time Leeds were losing 2 -1 and then Beckford was fouled in the penalty area and he stepped up to level the scores at 2 all with a superb cool headed penalty.

It is a long time since I have heard so many good things being said about Leeds United in the media and in the football chat forums and it makes me proud to be a Leeds fan. The club has gone many years without much good publicity but now the football world is taking notice of a team that is playing good football against the best teams in the land.

Leeds even made the front page of the Sunday Times sport section with a big picture of Jermaine Beckford after he scored the equalizing goal.

Leeds must be making hundreds if not thousands of new fans which is just what the club needs. Leeds' travelling supporters are also getting mentioned as they always create a fantastic atmosphere at football games.

I have lost track of the number of times a TV commentator has said that Leeds should be back in the Premier League. That is great to hear, but Leeds have a long way to go and a lot of hard work to do before they get there.

One step at a time and lets gets promotion to the Championship first. Leeds need to start winning in League One again. Let's hope they start on Tuesday night against Swindon !

Exeter VS Leeds United

I could see this result happening !

Leeds lost 2 nil at Exeter on Saturday. After the Wycombe game last week it was no surprise to me because Leeds did not play well that day and it seems they have hit a bad patch.

Norwich are looking very strong and I expect them to finish top of League One with Leeds in second. However, it is also possible that Leeds could lose the plot because they are good at that, but I hope they don't.

The news today that Jermaine Beckford has withdrawn his transfer request is good news and hopefully the club can now forget about transfer speculation and get on with playing good football just like we all know they can.

Wycombe Wanderers game against Leeds United

It was bound to happen ! . . . Leeds United played the second from bottom team in League One and were lucky to come away with a 1 - 1 draw. This is after the game against Man Utd last weekend, which is now old news, and the magnificent victory there.

At least Leeds didn't lose the game. That would have been very embarrassing and I suppose one point is worth having but why does this always happen ? Leeds should have gained all three points against Wycombe and with Norwich winning the gap at the top of the table has got smaller.

I don't like saying it but I think Leeds will end up finishing second in League One with Norwich finishing up as winners. I hope I am wrong but I had a funny feeling that Leeds would drop points on Saturday and that turned out to be the case.

This is a crucial part of the season and one where Leeds can almost clinch the league but we will have to see what happens next week against Exeter.

Manchester United VS Leeds United

My prediction came true !...I predicted a 1 nil win for Leeds and that's what happened....what a brilliant result and a fantastic performance from my beloved Leeds United. Leeds outplayed Man. Utd and deserved the victory. Leeds had more ambition and they defended and attacked as a team. Man, Utd weren't allowed to dwell on the ball and could have won 2 nil quite easily.

The whole game was exiting to watch and was end to end stuff. Leeds' passing was excellent and Man Utd gave the ball away far too often and cheaply.

Jermaine Beckford scored a great goal after 19 minutes and could easily have had a second in the second half.

The Leeds fans were fantastic...all 9,000 of them !...They outsang the home supporters easily and they were a credit to Leeds United.

Leeds United are again a force to be reckoned with and hopefully the club will have attracted thousands more fans to the cause. Leeds United is a proper football club with fanatical supporters. Once Leeds ...always Leeds

Marching on Together....next up is Spurs in the fourth round of the FA Cup and back to more mundane games against Wycombe next Saturday.

Leeds United at Old Trafford

This Sunday sees Leeds United travel to Old Trafford in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. The rivalry between the two teams is well known and it's good to be going back to the type of ground where Leeds United should be visiting every week in the Premier League !

Leeds are a good team and are well organised. I expect Man Utd to win but Leeds could easily stage an upset. Leeds to win one nil is my prediction, but my predictions are always wrong !
